Having the right furniture for the kids.

Having a nice and setup area that looks kid appropriate is a must. The one thing you would never want to see is a daycare that looks simple just like someone’s house, showing that no preparation went into the care of the potential customer’s children. The right approach would be to make the room at least look kid friendly. You should have some type of sitting area that was meant for children. Big bulky recliner does not say daycare. Think to yourself would you drop your children off at a place for 8 hours that looked like a normal everyday house. Stage areas that will be designated for story and snack times. Snack time should be a dinning room table with chairs scaled for smaller children. Having a good area for story time would consist of having smaller chairs around a large one. Not only will the parents like the scaled furniture but also the kids will be safer. No bruises from the corner chair, falling out of that bulky recliner is not fun either. Be prepared to actually have a day care that is fit to take care of what it is supposed to children.

Naptime doesn’t have to be a pain.

Keeping rest mats around for simple use such as naps is pretty simple right. Well consider some of the other benefits. There is a lot to consider, for one the children will have a nice pleasant area to sleep on. The parents will view this and see that their kids are a priority to you also. The simple luxury of having a soft place to sleep is often over looked. There other uses for the rest mats, they can double as other items also. During a rainy day they can be used for recess time to let the kids tumble, to have fun and play safely. Having an area in plain sight setup for story time with these rest mats staged around a chair for a designated story time area. These visual aids help parents to see the organization and priorities of a facility within the first few minutes of their visit. The simplest thing about it is that for me personally, I would be looking at all these aspects before considering a daycare for my own children.

Entertaining, fun and safe; what a concept.

These days with kids having no attention span at all, what kind of equipment really captures the kid’s imagination? Depending on age and mobility the products out there vary from the original jungle gym to the simple see saw that you find in most parks. The best type of playground equipment is something that both helps the kids stay happy and helps with such things as balance, coordination and problem solving. Such equipment as forts, balance beams and types of agriculture have been known to help with learning and interest with younger children. Depending on playground equipment alone removes the human element that kids need to help learn play and stay entertained. When we take a look at each type we can see the benefits of them all. Take the fort for example the uses of such equipment can keep a child’s mind occupied for hours. The benefits it has is a large range from the chutes from tower to tower that help with balance and coordination. Climbing up and down and all around will definitely help with the physical aspect that they would need for such times as recess. The one thing we all seem to forget is the human element that can help keep kids entertained and feel important. The agriculture types such as a sand digger and learning how to raise a garden will help with life long themes and put kids priorities along with understanding what it means to grow and have fun with just nature.

Tube Bird Feeders For Your Garden

Posted by admin on May-27-2008

When you are considering bird feeders for your garden, you will want to consider the types of birds that frequent your yard.  In addition to the birds, you also need consider the other animals that hang out in your yard that are able to steak the birdseed from your feeders.  If the birds in your garden are small – chickadees, titmice and goldfinches for example – then you will want to look into tube bird feeders since they can be hung from the trees and out of reach to many of the other little creatures in your garden.

Tube bird feeders come in two different types of feeders: nyjer and thistle seed feeders, and mixed seed feeders.  Depending on which type you use will determine the species of birds that come to the feeder.  The two types of tube bird feeders are designed with plastic of mesh tubing, slotted feed ports, and feeding perches.  Larger birds like woodpeckers, pine siskins, and house finches will also eat at these types of feeders, especially the types that cater to the thistle seed.  As a matter of fact, any bird that fits on the perch will enjoy these functional and decorative tube bird feeders so you should see many feather friends perched on your new tube bird feeder soon after you install it.

Tube bird feeders are designed to discourage birds like cardinals, blue jays, grosbeaks, grackles and blackbirds from eating at them.  They have no way to fit on the small perches that surround the bottom of the feeders.  The feet are too big to fit in the space between the perch ring and the bottom of the feeder.  Hopper and ground feeders are better for these types of birds.

If you are still having problems with larger birds chasing away the small birds you are trying to attract, invest in what is called an upside down tube bird feeder.  The ports from which the thistle seeds come out of are actually located under the perches.  It is interesting to watch the birds land and turn themselves upside in order to eat.  Unless the birds are willing to be flexible in this way, only the smaller birds will come and feed at these.  It’s also very common to see pine siskins and goldfinches eating from these upside tube bird feeders as they are acrobatic and don’t seem to mind hanging down.

Tube bird feeders that use mixed seeds have larger feeding ports.  These ports are designed to allow larger seeds such as sunflower seeds easily pass through them so the birds can access them.  There are numerous perches and feeding ports also located on these tube bird feeders.  If you have numerous birds that frequent your yard, you may want to hang up quite a few of these feeders of different styles with different types of seeds.  This helps reduce the birds from competing with each other to get to the tasty morsels you have set out for them.

Wonderful World of Porch Swings

Porch swings are a fabulous edition to any home and any porch.  Porch swings are a wonderful way to kick back and relax at any time, especially after a hard days work.  When purchasing a porch swing, a person has many different options on what material they would like their porch swing to be, what style, and what color depending on what sort of material the swing is made from.  Porch swing are constructed from all sorts of different woods, plastics, resin plastic, even certain metals like aluminum.  Porch swings can add a sort of casual touch and feel to a person’s home.  Porch swings are decorative addition to any porch or deck.  There is really a porch swing for every setting.

When a person is choosing the right porch swing for their porch, deck, or patio they have some things to take into consideration.  Before buying a porch swing, one needs to know exactly how much space they have free for the addition of a porch or patio swing.  Covered porches are usually not a problem to add a porch swing to.  Covered porches already have the capabilities of holding up a porch swing without any installation of support beams or other items.  Patios and decks do not usually come with this over head support that is truly ideal for the porch swing scenario.  So, when looking to purchase a porch swing, one must take things like these into consideration.  Sometimes a glider can be the more ideal piece of furniture for someone who does not have easy access to the support a porch swing will need.

Wood is usually the basic material of which porch swings are constructed from.  Cedar is always a very popular wood due to its amazing durability.  With that said, teak is also the next in line for durability and popularity.  However, cedar is a little more inexpensive than that of the classier teak.  Other popular woods include oak, poplar, cypress, cherry, yellow pine, and shorea.  Poplar is another wood that is very durable and long lasting in the outdoor environment.  After taking many options and ideas into consideration, one will then want to decide what kind of finish they will want on their porch swing if it is being constructed from wood.  If a person is not buying a wooden porch swing they will still have the style to decide on.  There are many different styles in every different material of porch swings.  Resin porch swings are popular in white and green as is aluminum.  Some of the designs include classic craftsmanship design, Adirondack seat backing styles, painted finishes, stained finishes, carved designs, and even rustic log designs.

Whatever design you choose, you are choosing a great addition to any home.  Any porch, deck, or patio will be gaining some style with the addition of a porch swing.  A new porch swing can even be an inexpensive endeavor if you decide to go with a cheaper wood or material.  Teak, cedar, and poplar are the most expensive woods by far.
